カージナルスがシリング獲得か　本人も移籍に興味

　今季、ボストン・レッドソックスのワールドシリーズ制覇に貢献し、オフにフリーエージェント（ＦＡ）となったカート・シリング投手（４０）について、セントルイス・カージナルスが獲得に乗り出している。また、本人もカージナルス移籍の可能性を匂わせているようだ。

　これはカージナルスの地元紙セントルイス・ポスト・ディスパッチ（電子版）が３日付で報じたもの。同紙によると、カージナルスのジョン・モゼリアクＧＭはすでにシリングの代理人に接触し、獲得に興味があることを伝えたという。また同紙は、シリングがセントルイスの地元ラジオ局のインタビューに対し、レッドソックスを退団することになれば、カージナルスが新天地候補のひとつだと語ったことも紹介している。

Schilling made known his interest in the Cardinals during a Friday morning interview on KSLG (1380 AM). Schilling told co-hosts Tim McKernan, Jim Hayes and Doug Vaughn, "If it doesn't work out in Boston, St. Louis is definitely one of those places? where he would consider landing.

"I've always been an enormous fan of the Cardinals organization and the Cardinals? fan base," Schilling told the morning show. "Win, lose or draw, the Cardinals fans are passionate about the Cardinals. There is really a family type of atmosphere, a Midwest atmosphere, and I was a fan of that."

んまぁ、セントルイスのラジオ局でのインタビューだから、話半分と思っていた方がいいかも。実際シリングの個人ブログ、38pitchs.comでは以下のように書いている。

I also wanted to mention something else. For anyone interested please just assume things are happening with Boston without me mentioning it. Theo and I have spoken more than once but there will be no details or updates of these discussions. I am in contact with the Sox and talking.

周りが騒いでるだけなんだろうね。シーズン中からもデビルレイズに行って若い奴らとやりたいとも言っていたし、２．３日前にはブリュワーズにも興味なんて言っていた。おそらくとてもいい人で、何処へ行っても地元のチームのことは悪く言わないんだろうな。でも個人的には、この人の動向はＡ・ロッドやソーサのそれよりも興味がある。
